With Spring now upon us (even though it may not feel like it!) now is the ideal time to begin scouring the market for occasion wear for the season ahead. Whether you’re heading to a Spring or Summer racing carnival, a wedding or communion, it’s so vital to avoid last minute panic shopping and get in early to find something you’re truly mad about. First in, best dressed and all that.
As an Aussie, I’ve learned over my time here that Irish women mean business when dressing for special occasions. Back home we tend to be a little bit more casual for weddings and the like. Short dresses are totally acceptable and I can’t say I’ve ever seen anyone bar the bride don headwear at a wedding! I think comfort and ease is a huge factor in this as the warm climate just isn’t conducive to anything too extravagant. So, I’ve really enjoyed having the chance to go all out for events since I moved here.
But, as someone who spends 99% of their time in jeans or trousers these days, I’ve very much gotten out of the habit of wearing dresses. Not only are trousers more weather appropriate, but generally they are more comfortable to wear (and you need less fake tan too!). So for me, trading a dress for a jumpsuit is a no brainer, especially when they look like this beauty which hit down in Willow this week.
Anything in a bold colour or print is right up my street and this jumpsuit has both going for it. With green being a key colour this season and vintage prints constantly resurfacing, this is bang on trend. The fit is flattering without sacrificing comfort and I’m feeling serious seventies vibes with the retro pattern and floor skimming wide legs! I love that the frill detail around the neckline adds a point of difference without being too fussy. With my bob hairstyle, sometimes higher necklines don’t work for me but this is perfect. Plus, you could still work a statement earring should you so wish without feeling too over the top.
Don’t be fooled by the popping colour or statement print, the beauty of this jumpsuit is you can dress it up or down effortlessly. The Girl With The Bob
The real winning factor for me here though is this is a piece you can style up and wear again and again. Don’t be fooled by the popping colour or statement print, the beauty of this jumpsuit is you can dress it up or down effortlessly. Add a strappy sandal, a blazer draped over your shoulders and you’re wedding ready. Swap in a leather jacket and kitten heel boots (as I’ve done here) and you’re set for a night out. Or grab your sandals and a denim jacket and this jumpsuit will take you straight through to your summer vacation!
I hope you’ve enjoyed reading my second instalment here on the Willow blog. Happy shopping, and stay tuned for more style chronicles and insights soon!
